An article in a magazine and statements made by one of our guests came together for me today.
The quote was "...more and more Americans are finding travel not a luxury but an essential life experience." -Klara Glowczewska, Conde Nast Traveler Magazine The article was referring to traveling for the cultural experience and bringing people together. It is a insightful and inspiring article and I highly recommend the magazine. The guest went with me, J D, on a vortex tour and said as we were walking along that as soon as she first saw me at the resort, she knew I had her answer. I knew that she would find it, because she had decided so. After we silently walked the labyrinth, she smiled and said she got what she came for. Great! I only have an inkling of what the situation was. That's enough. She had the answer all along, but I am honored she chose to have me participate in finding it. I know I am the catalyst, not the wisdom keeper. I take people to the right place at the right time, try to be silent and get out of the way. (Truly difficult for a tour guide :-). ) Whether you travel to a vortex for an experience, travel to the Hopi Lands with us to meet people of an ancient culture or travel to France for the pleasure of being abroad (We have people who can book that too.) we suggest you invest in yourself. Recently, with the permission and help of the owner, we began excavating a site at the Rock Art Ranch.
Our guests have actually found large unusual pottery shards and have dug up some amazing things. It doesn't go quickly. Archeology excavation has been described as moving a mountain with a toothbrush. And you can't keep any of the objects we are measuring and documenting. Would you like to come help us discover treasures in this ancient site? ![]()

It is the vortex energy that brought me as a visitor to Sedona 20 years ago.
I am still learning and growing and still enamoured with this wondrous place. Each of our vortex experiences is different, depending upon the questions asked by the visitors. We talk of the history and the science of the vortex phenomenon. We travel to a vortex site, a labyrinth, the stupa, a medicine wheel and some of the most beautiful places in Sedona. You have opportunity to ask questions. Primarily, the tour is about the individual. In these places, the herons, the eagles, the squirrels and the hummingbirds have come to help people get their answers. Open your heart to the Oneness. We have basic tour experince in which we bring parties together from various hotels. We also have private tours for an individual or one party. These are designed to get you thinking, perhaps your answer will come to you. Our daily vortex tours are in air conditioned vans. ![]() We walk this labyrinth during our vortex experience. We found the tradition to be true. Enter with questions, leave with answers. Wednesday, February 11

For those of you who fly your own planes, we have a unique opportunity.
We offer a tour of the ancient petroglyph site in the high country of Arizona. The carvings extend for over a 1/4 mile and span 7000 years. This is considered one of the world's best petroglyph sites according to the archeologist at NAU. Look for Rock Art Ranch in other areas of this website. We include fine dining at the historic La Posada Hotel. The Turquoise Room at the La Posada has been named for 2009 one of the top 3 restaurants in the USA by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. We will be happy to meet you and your guests at the Winslow airport and take you on the tour. The airport was founded in 1929 by Transcontinental Air Transport as a landing site for a transcontinental air route. It is the last remaining TAT airport. It has also been used as a training base for World War II pilots. You can join a tour already scheduled or we can arrange a private tour. The airport in Winslow is equipped to handle your large plane. I have been told the runway is the second longest in Arizona. Here is the link to more info.

Nearly every tour, someone wants to know about the Sky Walk over Grand Canyon.
From Sedona, you would be better served to fly. It is hours out there and a very bumpy road. May we offer instead the Chevelon Sky Walk? ![]() It is above the petroglyphs at Rock Art Ranch. Has picnic tables and extra benches. Yeah, I know. You were looking for the other one. Sorry. Just had to do it. Thursday, October 23

There is a 5 page article about Eliphante in the April 2008 issue of Arizona Highways.
Beautiful photos and text. Don't miss it! You may have read the January 2008 article in the New York Times about the late artist Michael Kahn and his wife, Leda. Arizona Highways Television filmed Eliphante. A Public TV show (based in Kansas City) called "Rare Visions & Roadside Revelations" filmed this summer and the show is seen on over 100 stations. A couple from France filmed Eliphante for a television pilot. And there has been a request from a London, England company for filming. Whew! We are happy to be so busy. Come see this amazing place before the crowds arrive. Access to the home is by crossing through the waters of Oak Creek. At this writing the waters have receded and we again have access to Eliphante! This week the crossing has been so dry we even drive the minivan across. The cost is $85 per person. To make a reservation, please email us enjoy@bluefeathertours.com or call the numbers below. Please tell us your email address, your phone number, how many will be in your party and what day or week you plan to visit Eliphante. Thank you for your patience. Seen on the Travel Channel, PBS, BBC, Arizona Highways Magazine, AAA Magazine More photos to the left This working cattle and buffalo ranch, the , I Lazy V brand, is the real Arizona, with lots of history. You'll see Petroglyphs, petrified wood, antiques, ancient pottery, more. The remote private ranch is south of Winslow, a perfect for a day trip from Sedona or Flagstaff. ![]() ![]() ![]() Michael Kahn, who passed away on the Winter Solstice, December, 2007. With the help of his wife Leda Livant Kahn, he created Eliphante. He is and will be missed very much by all who knew him, including this writer. Michael and Leda, are internationally known artists who created a sculptural garden, a masterpiece, called Eliphante in northern Arizona, near Sedona. He had a gallery on Cape Cod years ago and after moving to the southwest, he continued to paint while they constructed a series of buildings that made up their home. They used materials found in the environment such as driftwood, stones, broken glass, flying concrete and pieces of pottery. The fantastical structures include sunken labyrinth galleries, stained glass, lofts, domed chambers, tunnels, standing stones, sculpture, mosaics, hand carved wood but most importantly, Michael and Ledas' paintings. A tunnel with stained glass skylights casting rainbows onto its walls leads us to a domed chamber decorated with stained glass, a mosaics of stone, plaster, paint, and wood. Behind charming hand carved doors we wind through mazes of art and are invited by chairs and soft floors to relax and enjoy. A visit here means letting yourself play, taking in the forms, patterns, colors and textures with all your senses. Our first visitor expressed her joy by saying “My soul feels better." Visitors to Eliphante have exclaimed- "I have a new style of sculpture as a result of what I saw here. I can't wait to get home and begin!" "It is obvious he loved her so much that her created this beauty for her." "The land is barely able to contain the exuberance." They have even sat down in the dome with the stained glass and cried for the joy of it. As we wander through the garden discovering first one artistic treasure and then another your creativity comes out to play. Will you discover a new style for your beadwork? Redo your flower garden? Expand your business? What will you be inspired to create? Arizona Highways Magazine has photographed for an article and photo layout. Arizona Highways Television filmed it. Look for the link elsewhere on this blog. Eliphante can be seen on Bravo Channel. The short documentary was made by a Canadian group and recently purchased by Bravo. Check out our photos under Extreme Home, Eliphante! "The New York Times did a feature story about the man, his wife and his work, published January 31, 2008. To see the text of the article, click here. If you want to see Eliphante and their paintings, please leave your email address through our main web site. Blue Feather Tours is based in Sedona, Arizona
which is in the high desert about half way between Phoenix and Grand Canyon. We have been doing personalized tours around Northern Arizona for 12 years. Our style is different than any of the other tour companies operating in our area. We specialize in finding the most unique and interesting places. Some of our tours require you to climb stairs. We stop each hour to stretch our legs and use facilities. We are the only Sedona company taking visitors to the Rock Art Ranch. It is working buffalo ranch and with the largest and best preserved petroglyph site in Arizona, perhaps the whole southwest. And we are the only company taking visitors to the sculptural home, Eliphante near Sedona in the Verde Valley We have daily tours to mystical sites as well. Vortex and mystical sites in Sedona and the surrounding Verde Valley, and the sacred site at Rock Art Ranch. Please take a moment to look at the photos of tours that interest you. Click on the sections to the left of this article, then click on the stack of pictures tor a slide show. A steak cookout, cowboy entertainment and Overnight trip from Sedona to Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly, including Meteor Crater. Native american speaker or flute player for your group at the Rock Art Ranch. Mystics? Consider this: We are the only company that can arrange an overnight stay in Winslow with a fire circle ceremony or an overnight camping excursion at the ancient sacred site on Rock Art Ranch where the medicine people have come for thousands of years. We and many of our guests have found it to be healing and very powerful, though we make no guarantees. We would be happy to arrange group or custom tours to any Northern Arizona area. One of our guides, Duane, is an Arizona native of European descent raised on the Navajo Nation.
You'll also find his picture in the "About Us" photos. He is a master beadworker and an amazing mystic and helps us with out website. He's a man of many talents and a joy on tour. J D gets much feedback and many letters raving about his work. Most everyone he has taken out on tour is coming back next year to travel with him again. They often plan their stay in Sedona around his availablity. Monday, February 19

It is the vortex energy that brought me as a visitor to Sedona 20 years ago. I am still learning and growing and still enamoured with this wondrous place. My path has taken me in many wondrous directions. I have become a mystic and geomancer, working with earth energy. Occasionally, I facilitate a past life regression for one of our guests in a private session. I no longer do readings. I prefer to offer tools to help people find their own answers. Each of our vortex tours is different, depending upon the questions asked by the visitors. We talk of the history and the science of the vortex phenomenon. We travel to these spots, some of the most beautiful in Sedona, in small groups so you have opportunity to ask questions. Primarily, the tour is about the individual. In these places, the herons, the eagles, the squirrels and the hummingbirds have come to help people get their answers. Open your heart to the Oneness. We have basic tours in which we bring parties together from various hotels. We also have private tours for an individual or one party. These are designed to get you thinking, perhaps your answer will come to you. Our daily vortex tours are in mini vans and cars. |
